“I graduated from University with a degree in Child Development. When I returned to college to qualify as a teacher, I was amazed to find that none of my courses actually taught how to teach, especially how to teach Reading. Phonics was looked down upon, but nothing else was given us to take its place!
“Over 28 years of teaching in public and private schools (and in my own school), I have learned to teach reading using phonics.
“It is one of my greatest joys to see a child conquer the printed word or the world of numbers with my help. Students, on average, gain over a year of learning in a year’s time with me. Some gain as much as 2 or 3 years in one year with me.
“My goal is not merely to teach reading and math, but to give your child the same excellent education I gave my own, both of whom been accepted at prestigious, nationally-known universities.
“I believe every student should be exposed to great literature and a foreign language, know important people and dates, name and understand the natural world and develop responsible work habits.
“Most of all, children need a spiritual foundation in Christian principles and a solid moral framework on which to build their lives.”
