Class size and composition varies by year. Last year (the 2009-2010 school year, the group consisted of two students in 9th grade, one child in 8th, two in 7th, one in third and two in second grade.

Each child progresses at their own speed in the crucial areas of math and reading. They also work together in small groups. Whole group instruction is given in areas where all students need to develop competency, such as history, science and geography. However, testing in these areas takes each child’s level and abilities into account.

Students are tested before entering the school to determine their class placement, their strengths and areas in which they need extra support. The parent/teacher relationship is necessarily one of close cooperation. Thus parents are also interviewed. This helps to ensure a successful school career at Archangel Academy.
